The Mexican American War  E-mail

The United States declares war on Mexico in an ambitious land grab which Ulysses S. Grant later describes as "one of the most unjust ever waged by a stronger against a weaker nation." It is the training ground for the coming Civil War with junior officers Robert. E. Lee, Ulysses S. Grant, Jefferson Davis, Braxton Bragg, George McClellan, and virtually every general officer on both sides of the conflict. The animation features two key battles:

  • The Battle of Buena Vista: A brilliant defensive battle in which Jefferson Davis leads the 1st Mississippi Rifles in a charge which saves the day for the U.S.
  • The Battle of Cerro Gordo: A ingenious flanking attack designed by Robert E. Lee which takes the outnumbered Americans around the Mexican flank
