The First Battle of Bull Run

First Manassas

The initial skirmishes of the war have taken place, but significant blood has not been spilled. For the first time, two major armies will clash near Bull Run and Manassas. Both sides are optimistic and expect that one great battle may end the conflict. Both sides wear an assortment of sometimes very colorful uniforms. During the battle, confusion over uniforms results in more than one terrible decision. Citizens from Washington drive out in buggies and wagons to watch the battle. But both sides are stunned as blood is spilled in a confused battle. One major hero, General Jackson, emerges from the battle with a new nickname - "Stonewall".
