"Surprisingly detailed depiction .... and really well done"
"this is a surprisingly detailed depiction... and really well done....The site is really professionally done and will appeal to anyone who is new to a particular battle or campaign. The moving animation provides a teaching tool which is more difficult with only text and still maps. " -

Battle of Brice's Crossroad
As Sherman invades Georgia, his 100,000 man army depends on a tenuous supply line through Tennessee. He must keep Confederate General Nathan Bedford Forrest (whom he refers to as "that devil Forrest") away from that supply line. Sherman sends General Sturgis on a raid into Mississippi with 8,500 troops to distract and hopefully destroy Forrest. Forrest rushes to meet Sturgis' army with 4,713 poorly-armed Confederate cavalry.
In one of the most complete victories of the war, Forrest crushes the Union invasion force.
